Morality and Rural Knowledge to Globalization

Over the past two years, our team had an opportunity to work on the “Morality and rural knowledge to globalization”. Now that the curriculum has been established(1), we can review the definition and work towards its realization.
Morality, a code of conduct based on a set of principles and judgments shared by our cultural, religious and philosophical concepts and beliefs, regulates the behaviors of Thai society on what they view as right or wrong. To explain this further, we have to look at the principle of Budhism(2) as:
1. Idthibadh 4 counseled on being attentive, patient and having a perpetual fondness towards learning.
2. Prohmviharn 4 advocated mercy, generosity, support of other’s successes and well-being in our own failures.
3. Mak 8 instructed on the purity, ability and stability of thought and business ethics through the goodness of speech towards others, patience and wisdom.
When developing the Rural Knowledge, we have to look at the:
1) research and its appropriate development,
2) application of that research to eliminate the rural problems, using rural tools.
Finally, for the globalization we have to gain to ability to:
1) present in lecture, seminar, conference and round table,
2) explain details of all processes involved in rural knowledge via all media and communication.
Because the Thai society is dynamic and moves toward a better quality of life, the widespread conformity to such codes will assure our continued existence and morality. It will enforce in each of us the “never give up” attitude and ensure the “born to be” capable in our children(3). People who provide from their
heart will always receive more than they give, thus will ensure a future happiness.
