Tuberculous Appendicitis Presenting with Lower Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage - A Case Report and Review of the Literature

The author presents a young patient presenting with lower gastrointestinal hemorrhage due to
tuberculous appendicitis. Though an ileo-cecal region is the most frequent site of involvement of the intestinal
tuberculosis, vermiform appendix involvement is rare. Moreover, intestinal tuberculosis is an uncommon
cause of lower gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Therefore, bleeding from tuberculous appendicitis is a very rare
presentation. In addition, the author demonstrates colonoscopic appearance of the tuberculous appendicitis.
