HIGHLIGHTED ARTICLE
A pragmatic one-day surgery model for older adults improved patient satisfaction, reduced costs, and demonstrated safe implementation in community hospitals. This study highlights how structured perioperative pathways can expand access to efficient surgical care in aging societies.
Percutaneous balloon aortic valvuloplasty effectively relieved congenital aortic stenosis, but long-term follow-up revealed progressive aortic regurgitation and frequent reintervention. These findings emphasize the need to balance immediate gradient reduction against future valve durability in children.
Real-world stroke data from Vietnam showed comparable three-month outcomes after thrombolysis, thrombectomy, or bridging therapy. Early NIHSS and ASPECTS strongly predicted recovery, providing valuable regional evidence to guide reperfusion strategies in resource-variable healthcare systems.
Telephone triage showed only fair agreement with emergency department triage, with notable over-triage and under-triage in key symptom groups. This operational study identifies opportunities to refine dispatch systems and improve emergency resource allocation.
A 15-year single-center experience in arterial switch operations demonstrated improving survival over time, underscoring the impact of surgical learning curves, perioperative care, and timely preoperative intervention for infants with transposition of the great vessels.
