Message from the Editor-in-Chief

The Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand (J Med Assoc Thai)

4th Febuary 2026
It is my great honor to extend my warm greetings to all members, readers, authors, reviewers, and editorial colleagues of the Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand (JMAT) as I assume the role of Editor-in-Chief.

JMAT has long served as a cornerstone of medical scholarship in Thailand, providing a trusted platform for the dissemination of clinical knowledge, research findings, and professional experience of Thai physicians and healthcare professionals. I deeply respect the strong foundation built by my predecessors, particularly Professor Apichart Chittacharoen, the former Editor-in-Chief, and the continued commitment of the editorial team.

With more than a decade of experience in academic medicine, medical education, and scholarly publishing, I have witnessed the critical role that high-quality medical journals play in advancing patient care, shaping health systems, and influencing policy. This experience has reinforced my belief that editorial quality, publication ethics, and international standards are essential for a journal to remain relevant and impactful in today’s global academic environment.

My vision for JMAT is to further strengthen its scientific rigor, transparency, and editorial excellence, while enhancing its international visibility and academic impact. A key strategic goal is to develop the journal in alignment with global standards, with the long-term objective of inclusion in major international databases such as PubMed., At the same time, JMAT will continue to serve as an important academic voice reflecting the medical and health system context of Thailand and the region.

Achieving these goals requires collective effort. I sincerely invite authors, reviewers, and members of the Medical Association of Thailand to actively participate in this journey, contributing high-quality scholarly work and constructive peer review to advance our journal together.

I look forward to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure that the Journal of the Medical Association of Thailand continues to grow as a credible, impactful, and internationally recognized medical journal.

Sincerely,

Professor Thawatchai Akaraviputh, MD, Dr.med. (Hamburg)
